This dictionary for the first time makes the readers acquainted with the French terminology in the field of arts. It contains about 10,000 most frequently used terms pertaining both to the fine arts (architecture, painting, graphics, sculpture) and to a wide scope of decorative and applied arts (furniture, costume, ceramics and tapestry, jewelry, arms, etc.). The dictionary contains almost 500 illustrations. The most popular mythology and Biblical themes are also included into the dictionary. Lists of mythology and Biblical personalities, Russian-French index, as well as the list of illustrations are given in the Appendix.

Dictionary’s author, Yekaterina Zolotova, is a senior researcher of the State Arts Research Institute, Doctor of Arts, author of fundamental scholarly works on the Western European arts.

The Dictionary is published by the «Slovo» Publishing House (Moscow) with the support of the «Interros» Company. This publication was timed to coincide with the opening of the exhibition in Paris.
